Want To Change A Flat Tire Fast? Four Things You Should Store In Your Trunk

Posted on: 18 June 2017

Changing a flat tire is a real drag. It is always tedious and complicated, and it takes forever to do. Add in a danger factor if you have to do it on the side of the road, and it is just too much. Fortunately, there are ways to change a flat faster, but you have to carry the following items in your trunk.

Small, Portable Air Compressor

A small, portable air compressor is essential to everything else you should be carrying in your trunk for a quick flat change. Get the highest PSI you can in the smallest tank and engine combo possible. It should also be a compressor that you can plug into your 12-volt outlet in your vehicle so that you do not have to worry about finding an electrical outlet on the side of the road.

A Paoli Wheel Gun

Paoli wheel guns are perfect for removing stubborn hub caps. They hydraulic pressure is fueled by your portable air compressor. Using this type of tool means that there is less chance that you will wrestle with a crow bar trying to pop the hub off and get injured in the process. It also means that you will not accidentally fall backward into oncoming traffic when the hub is jerked free by a crowbar. Instead, the wheel gun does all the torque work with none of the pain and potential injuries.

Impact Wrench with Nut Remover Accessory

An impact wrench is another hydraulic tool that should be in your trunk for these very situations. Combined with the nut remover accessory, it removes the most stubborn wheel nuts. It also makes sure that the nuts you put back on the wheel after you have replaced your flat tire are very tight and so secure it would be impossible to remove them again without an impact wrench.

Hydraulic Jack

Since you already have the air compressor in the trunk, throw a portable hydraulic jack in there while you are at it. When you need it, connect the end to the air compressor hose and watch as the compressor and lift work effortlessly to lift your vehicle off the ground so that you can tend to the flat. When the car is high enough to change the tire, disconnect the compressor hose to use with the above tools. Once the flat is replaced, just hit a button to release the air in the jack. All done!
